Traditions

We are so proud of the enduring campus traditions at the Junior School that bring together our students, staff, and community.

Turkee Dae

Turkee Dae…a day where dressing wrong is RIGHT! On the Friday before Thanksgiving Break, students, teachers and staff come to school dressed up in mismatched, wacky gear. Turkee Dae is an AHJS tradition that has been going strong for over 30 years. Watch this video to learn more!

Mulch Mania

Mulch Mania is a Junior School tradition that started in 2023, and is an annual campus beautification project that draws support from school groups, community partners, and the Junior School community members at large.

Students pitch in for Mulch Mania campus beautification efforts.

In addition, there’s a Frito Pie cook-off and burnt burgers and cold hotdogs cooked by administrators for everybody that shows up. As if that is not enough, the teacher band Electric Pajama Party plays live to keep things festive.

The AHJS admin team cooks and serves burgers and hot dogs at Mulch Mania.

Springfest

Springfest is the largest AHJS PTO annual fundraiser. It has been held in the spring every year for 30 plus years, and is a campus carnival that includes rides, games, food and lots of fun!

Junior School students enjoy Springfest fundrasier.
