My name is Lani Gil. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and have been playing the violin since I was ten years old. I am a graduate from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Studies with String Emphasis. I am Assistant Orchestra Director for Alamo Heights Junior School and teach private lessons from my at home studio.
I decided to become a teacher because of others who inspired me. I transferred to a public school in the 5th grade and that is when I discovered music. My teachers did everything they could to make sure I was successful, and as a child, I valued how much they truly wanted me to be a part of their ensemble. Starting out I was never the first chair violinist but I saw that I was still treated the same as the other students. I finally felt a part of a team!
Through music, I have learned skills that apply to all walks of life. I credit my sense of independence, responsibility and organization to my experiences in the orchestra classroom. I constantly set high standards for myself because it is a skill that was taught to me by my past orchestra and violin instructors.
I am forever grateful for my talent and cannot wait to pass on my knowledge to future generations. I look forward to working with students and help them become respectful, intelligent and creative young adults through music.
